What if the silence was part of the survival?
For many Filipinos, we were taught to endure.
To keep the family together.
To stay quiet.
To sacrifice.
To forgive before we were ready.
To carry shame that was never ours.
And for some of us, that also meant surviving abuse.
This October, in honor of Filipino American History Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Iām holding space for the patterns we inherited, the silence we normalized, and the healing we are now ready to choose.
